Drill Halls to Army Orders: The 164th Infantry on the Eve of War
DESCRIPTION
Packing List in order to portray the infantrymen of the 164th Infantry Regiment as they appeared prior to departing for Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. Below are the required and suggested items and vendors to assist members of the 164th Infantry. While the suggested vendors have various reproductions, in many instances original personal and field items are preferred.
2. PACKING LIST
Individual Clothing- One Service Uniform will be worn throughout the entire event. It is up to the individual which uniform that will be. The Wool Service Uniform or the Cotton Khaki uniform are all seen worn with both Garrison Caps and Campaign Hats. WWI Surplus pieces can be mixed in as well. 34th Infantry Division Patches are authorized but should be in the vast minority of impressions

ADDENDUM- WWII Era Cots or period looking cots are authorized and encouraged. These can be easily had thru Facebook marketplace and other sources. Check with Leadership to ensure your Cot meets standards. Accordingly, WWI and WWII era Brown and OD blankets, Army Comforters, and period non-descript white pillows are also authorized. Both originals, modern variants, and reproductions are all available. WWI and Pre-War Army Laundry and Duffle bags and Footlockers are also encouraged.
3. HAIR AND GROOMING- This is a warning order; additional information and illustrations to be posted before the event. Hair and grooming should reflect styles common of the 1940’s. Receive a correctly-styled 1940’s haircut within three weeks of this event. Participants will arrive with not more than 3 days’ facial hair growth. Trimmed regulation 1940’s style mustaches are OK.
4. ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT- All other equipment brought is up to your discretion. We would like to highlight early war gear including WWI and Interwar gear. Above is the highlighted MINIMUM every participant needs to pack. You will have the option to display gear, set up certain items at the event leader’s discretion. A pencil and notebook will be issued to every participant for use during classroom lectures and instruction periods.
